Avatar Aang - Aang is the last known airbender. He's also the Avatar - master of the four elements of air, water, earth, and fire.

Fire Lord Zuko - For the first three books, Zuko was a banished prince who was intent on capturing the Avatar to restore his honor. Zuko was ever loyal to his nation; but when he discovered his father intended to destroy the other three kingdoms, Zuko had to put a stop to it. He buried the hatchet and joined the Avatar. Now, with his father's and sister's defeat, Zuko has ascended the throne and declared an end to the War. Now, Zuko and Aang work together to rebuild this world.

Mai - Zuko's childhood sweetheart and future wife.
