Téa - Téa is Yugi's friend, and she secretly has a crush on the pharaoh, Yugi's Yami. She's recently come into possession of the Millennium Necklace, which held the spirit of the pharaoh's wife, Alya. Now, Téa and Alya share the same body, much in the way that Yugi and the pharaoh do. As it turns out, Téa is the reincarnation of Alya just as Yugi is the reincarnation of the pharaoh.

The Millennium Necklace has the power to glimpse into the past.

Alya - Alya was a priestess of Isis and wife to the pharaoh. She's been residing in the Millennium Necklace until she could be revived by her reincarnation, Téa. Like Téa, she was a dancer and a Duel Monsters player, but Téa is a lot better at it. She also has a bit of an attraction to Yugi because he reminds her of the young, innocent pharaoh she'd fallen in love with.

Yugi Muto/Yami Yugi - Yugi Muto's grandfather owns a game shop which specializes in Duel Monsters. His grandfather brought home an artifact from ancient Egypt, the Millennium Puzzle. When Yugi assembled the puzzle, he awakened the spirit of a trapped pharaoh within. The pharaoh suffers a memory lost and is simply known as Yami, as he is the darker half of Yugi.

Bakura - Bakura is an exchange student from England and also a friend of Yugi's. His father gave him the Millennium Ring, which held the spirit of a thief that lived during the pharaoh's time. Bakure, as he's sometimes called, seeks to avenge the deaths of his family, who were also thieves, and being criminals, they were sacrificed to raise the monsters that are now known as Duel Monsters. Bakura started out as a fragile individual but he's growing stronger and slowly convincing Bakure that there is more to life than simple revenge. He's rubbing off on the thief. The Millennium Ring holds the power to seek other Millennium Items and Bakure can summon Duel Monsters from the Shadow Realm.

Seto Kaiba - Seto Kaiba's life has never been the same since he crossed paths with Yugi Muto. Kaiba had a rough childhood growing up. He and his little brother Mokuba were orphaned at a young age and adopted by a strict businessman. That life instilled a darkness in his soul, which Yami Yugi sensed and banished to the Shadow Realm (twice). Kaiba and Yugi have a shaky friendship. He respects Yugi for his gentle wisdom and his concern for Mokuba, but his Yami gets on Kaiba's nerves. To make matters worse, Kaiba is apparently the reincarnation of a priest of Set, who had his own disagreements with how the pharaoh was handling things back in ancient Egypt. Kaiba is the rightful owner of the Millennium Rod, which possesses no spirit, but seems to have an intelligence of its own, as it's been activating its powers for Kaiba in his times of needs; which unnerves the skeptical Kaiba even more.

Mokuba - Mokuba is Kaiba's little brother and friends with Yugi Muto. He'll do anything to help out his big brother. Unlike Kaiba, Mokuba is more open to the idea that there are magical happenings. Recognizing this, Mokuba has managed to bring Yugi and his friends to Kaiba's aid in such instances, which has only further wounded Kaiba's pride.

Hery-Sesheta - Hery-Sesheta is actually a title that means Master of Secrets. His true name is not known, but he has a grudge against Alya, the pharaoh's wife. Long ago, Alya discovered the murderer of her friend Mahaado, the original keeper of the Ring. To avenge him, she used her Millennium Necklace to bind Bakure to the Ring for all eternity. Hery-Sesheta was destined to bear the Ring after Mahaado. When she bound Bakure to it, Hery-Sesheta was forced to wander the Shadow Realm.

Mai Valentine - Mai Valentine is a loner and occasionally bumps into Yugi and his friends, only because of her desire to be a Duel Monsters champion. She 's attracted to Yugi's friend Joey Wheeler, but she's reluctant to admit her feelings to him. She's going through a rough time after being at the mercy of some powerful magic. One day, perhaps, she may find the strength to come into her own.
